One of the most exciting parts of owning your own business is the ability to grow and learn. I have been privileged to experience many different areas of the law including Estates, Business Law, Oil and Gas Law, Energy Law and Criminal law. I have been a Homicide prosecutor, a Congressional Aide, a University Professor, an Executive Director and Advocate and even a Candidate for the New Mexico Senate.
But as an Estate Planning attorney, I have found my niche. I love working with families to get their planning documents in place to protect those they love. At Treveri Law, I will continue to work with both individuals and families that need to develop their estate planning, incapacity, Wills and Trust documents.
But I also have discovered that in my efforts to deliver a holistic approach to estate planning, and due to significant conflict in my own family over estate planning issues, that I needed to expand my practice. After all, Treveri Law seeks to assist clients with “Estates, Succession and Legacy”. Thus, I wanted to understand how estate planning, which is really contingency planning, is a piece of the roadmap toward helping my clients to successfully transfer their legacy to the next generation – while alive or after passing.
Thus, in June 2020 I studied for and received my Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) accreditation to become one of only three advisors (and the only attorney) in the entire state of New Mexico. The CEPA has opened the door to a vast ocean of incredible knowledge on Family Communication, Legacy Management, and Value Acceleration. As a CEPA and new member of the Exit Planning Institute, I have access to a network of collaborative advisors giving of their time and expertise in Family Enterprise, Estate, Exit and Business Succession planning. The learning curve is steep and exciting – you can’t imagine the number of books I need to read that are sitting on my night-table!
